Back in college, we used to leaf through a thick books. The crazy thing was that reading assignments were only handed out a day before the dreaded graded recitation/interrogation.
Good thing I was taught the “Wood method” of speed reading back when I was in grammar school so I always made it to class somehow prepared (not fully though, hey, college parties can sometimes bum you out :p).
The Wood method’s a speed reading technique where you sweep your hand across the page to guide your eyes. Ever tried doing it? Well, I don’t know if it’s possible to do it on-screen but perhaps that’s the mouse pointer’s job. Anyway, here’s a simple speed reading test to gauge how fast your reading is.
It clocked me at 758 words per minute. Yey!

1Wow 758 wpm is really good! I’m planning on extending the tool by adding a comprehension test. Thank you for testing it out, I’m now a subscriber ^^

2Thanks, Adam. The comprehension test would definitely be a great addition. Speed reading isn’t just WPMs, right? And Study Habits is a great site!
