Search engines and web services can rank search results differently. Like Google ranks results through their mystical PageRank algorithm. StumbleUpon ranks sites by the number of thumbs up signs a page gets. Alexa ranks site by traffic.

In any case, I find myself deferring to . So how about a meta search engine that lets you sort combined search results from the top search engines and web services. That means Google Search + Yahoo + MSN + Alexa + Google PageRank + StumbleUpon all in a search engine. That’s what AfterVote is.

While , I agree that this thing’s best feature is the sorting feature. It just gives you power over a consolidated sheet of information and choose which rankings fit your needs. Plus, it has bookmarking buttons to immediate send them to Digg, Reddit, and Del.icio.us.

I’m raving over it now and using it as my default search engine. Very nice. The screenshot also tells you why MSN search sucks. It ranked LifeSpy.com 10th with the ‘lifespy’ keyword. Tsk.
