If you’re an Excel user, you might have been familiar with its data entry quirks. By default, Excel automatically points your cursor one cell down when you input data and press the Enter key. Now depending on how you are structuring your data, this behavior can be quite annoying. It’s a good thing that with Excel 2007, you can actually customize its behavior.
To do so, you need to access the Excel Options window. To do this you can click on the Office Button -> Excel Options (located at the bottom) -> Advanced. Or you may want to use the keyboard shortcut Alt+F I A.
In this tab, you can see the first check box option labeled “After pressing Enter, move selection” with a drop down menu. The drop down menu contains options on where you’d want the cursor to move after pressing the Enter key. You may choose to make it move in four directions – Up, Down, Left, and Right. If you don’t want the cursor to move at all, you may just uncheck the box. Click OK to enable your new option.
Now watch how your cursor moves where you told it to move after pressing the Enter key. I just love it when you have control over features.
