There may be times when you need to get some media embedded in a PowerPoint presentation and use them externally as media files). Well, they can actually be individually saved as images inside PowerPoint (just right-click on the image and save it as an image). Amit of Digital Inspiration give us this great workaround on how one can extract those images.
To extract pictures from the PPT slideshow, all you have to do is export the Powerpoint Presentation as an HTML web page. [File -> Save As -> Select .html from the File Format drop down]
PowerPoint will automatically extract every picture embedded in the PPT file and save it to the local folder. The same technique is also used to extract sound from presentations.

1I used this method before to extract wav from ppt show & work well for me
