When it comes to getting snapshots of your Windows screen, Techsmith’s SnagIt has been at the top of screencap software. What can I say, it can ‘cap them all – windows, scollable windows, user-defined areas, video, even DirectX applications.

Their new release 8.2 is now compatible with Windows Vista and Office 2007. And has some pretty cool new features to go with it:

• Send captures directly to apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MindManager, or Flickr)
• Pre-print processing
• Organize custom call-outs

Techsmith also released Camtasia Studio, an alternative to Adobe Captivate. I haven’t tried it out yet but given SnagIt’s track record, it may be worth the try. For personal use presentations, you can try Wink – a freeware that can motion capture your screen and export them to to SWF (Flash).

SnagIt is paid software with the basic single-user license at $39.95. Pretty reasonable price for a very powerful piece of software.
