What do ladies look for in a guy? A great personality, a sense of humor, six-pack, a smile that melts your heart? Ladies like to hang out with guys who are hot and funny. But when hanging out leads to meeting your parents, your boyfriend suddenly seems less than perfect. You’re suddenly noticing that he picks his nose in public, coughs without covering his mouth and talks when his mouth is full. What do you do?

Is it right to change a person? It’s said that love is loving the person for who he really is. But where do you draw the line between adorable and nose-picker? It’s okay to change a person as long as the change is all for that person’s improvement. The best way to do it is to nicely suggest ways on how he can improve himself so you won’t turn out to be a nag.

The problem is when he’s not welcoming the suggested improvements. Some people can’t handle constructive criticism, so be sensitive. Explain to him that meeting your folks is a big deal to you, and that your parents’ blessings will add more meaning to your commitment.

Do not compare. You suggestions on your boyfriend’s improvement shouldn’t look as if you’re comparing him to someone else. Instead of doing this, incorporate your suggestions on how he can be more than what he is already. Tell him that he is good, but emphasize that he could be better.
