Odd JOb

Job stability isn’t something anyone can rely on nowadays. Got booted out of the job and looking for some quick way to make a buck or two? Here are 10 odd job ideas to help tide you over some trying times.

  1. If you have a computer with an Internet connection handy, you can do some encoding work from people who do not have full-time secretaries.
  2. Or if you live near a campus, offer to encode papers for students who would rather spend their time partying in frat houses.
  3. Offer cleaning services. Spring cleaning is just around the corner so why not offer your services and get paid by the hour.
  4. Handy with some thread and needle? Start a home tailoring business. Do quick repairs like sewing back missing buttons, darn socks, alter hemlines.
  5. Or if you’re on the artistic side. Design shirts with fancy images and statements. Sell them online.
  6. Offer after-school babysitting to neighbors who have to work 9 to 5. You can babysit their kids 2 hours (from 3-6 PM) everyday.
  7. Pretty handy with numbers, offer your services as bookkeeper to smaller organizations who’d rather pay someone part time to handle their books.
  8. Create a dog-walking service.
  9. Start a kid after-school tutorial service. With the growing population of kids who need just more work in school, there would be a good market for you.
  10. Start a grocery shopping business. They give you their list and their money and you shop for them.
