Among the preparations you have to make for school (when it starts) or when at work, speaking and communicating better is one of those skills you need to work on. Why? Simply because verbal communication enables us to express our thoughts and our ideas. Here’s how you can improve your communication skills so you can have more control on things.

People have different opinions. And don’t you forget that. No matter how strong your conviction is on what you believe in, and no matter how much proof you have for your argument, you cannot take away people’s right to have their own opinions. And they are free to voice them out just as you’re free to express yours. There is a way to debate without being rude and offensive, but you achieve it if you respect the differences which your classmates have from you.

Listening is different from just hearing what the other person is saying. If you listen, you will understand where the other person is coming from. It is by listening where you can develop a sense of understanding wherein you will be able to communicate even if you are sharing different ideas with each other. Some gestures you can do to improve your connection to the speaker is to maintain eye contact.

This means you’ll have to avoid interrupting people in the middle of their utterance. When you interrupt, you break the other person’s thought process. Instead of making sudden urges to speak, wait for him to finish so you can say what you think about it. This means the other person should also let you talk when it’s your turn.
