Job interviews can be so stressful. After you get that promising phone call, you were finally given a schedule to meet with your future employer – a chance to get the job you want. Now, there’s only one thing left to do. Don’t blow it.
Now if you have been through job interviews before, I assume you already know the drill. But you know too that hiring is tough in bigger companies. So it’s either you impress or you mess another chance at the big time.
First off, dress appropriately. Know the nature of the company you’re applying for so that you can know how you can dress to impress. A suit is always the classic favorite during formal job interviews as of course you want to look prepared and ready for business. You can probably play with the color but make sure everything else is professional-looking. If you were not given a dress code, you can wear a neutral tone – pressed, clean and complete with a good pair of shoes.
Appearance. They are after your abilities, but you can’t take any risk by not looking your best. If you’re a girl, put on a little makeup, enough to make you look good and feel confident. Go for that natural look. Any more than that may have a bad impression on your interviewer. And if you’re a guy, make sure you shave that stubble, and that you smell nice. Today is not the day for sweat under the pits.
Prepare your first answer. The first question that’s usually asked is “Tell me about yourself”. By answering this, you should be careful about what you say because the interviewer is going to use that on the follow up questions. You can say which school you graduated from and how your past working experiences have made you capable of the job position you are being considered for. If you get through the first question smoothly, you’ll feel more relaxed and confident answering the rest of the questions.
