While the economy is still reeling from the brunt of the recession scares and with everyone trying to take advantage of the stimulus plan that the congress has been kind to issue the kind populace, scammers have launched ways on how to exploit computing noobs using the stimulus plan as bait.

CNN Money has reported of three ongoing scams that you should be aware of:

  • A phishing scam uses an e-mail notification prompting the person to have the his/her tax return audited. Links point to sites asking for personal information.
  • Companies getting e-mails on tax law changes that links to sites that spreads malware.
  • A phone phishing scam where the caller pretends to be an IRS employee asking for a person’s bank account number.
