Every businessman knows that one of the skills he has to master is his presentation skills. Being able to stage your agenda efficiently in front of your investors could be the difference between a successful and a failed business proposal. Here are some ways which can help you brush up on your next business presentation skills.
Choose a corporate design. I know there are more interesting template you can use in your software, but always go for decent and professional design. It’s better to use slides you’ve seen in other presentations than risk going overboard. Or better yet, study the profile of your audience and attendees so you can see how much creativity you can work on. Complement your slides with high resolution images if you need photos but don’t overdo animation and sounds. Having too much clutter in your presentation will only distract your audience from listening intently to your message.
Make a point by point outline. It’s better to use a topic outline than a sentence outline. As long as you have the key points, you can discuss your agenda easily and with your own words. Instead of just reading from the presentation, you can interact with your audience. Doing so will rake in more positive feedback.
Have a flowchart of presentation which will be your guide. It’s better to be familiar with your slides so that if you had to refer to previous slides you can easily jump to it, instead of running through all of them again.
Talk audibly. What you say is more important than what they see. So even without looking at the slides, you should be able to discuss and communicate your report.

1Adding to these good pointers for more effective presentation skills I’d note the need to practise and rehearse your presentation. Aim to become so familiar with the structure, content and words that you don’t need to refer to the slide deck.
