“Rise up. Help others download a more interesting life.” How’s that for Firefox’s campaign to make people download and use the browser. And Mozilla seems to be going all out in this one complete with a website, an anthem and crazy stats on Firefox users like:
* 123% more likely to be a student
* 35% less likely to be expecting a grandchild in the next year
* 15% more likely to have watched cartoons on TV within the last seven days
* 21% less likely to fish
And the anthem? It’s got lines like:
But some people make choices in life, that turn out pretty lame
Sitting at home drinking white zin, playing a solitary card game.
and my favorite:
Quit your day job with the man.
Rise up! Rise up!
Too bad the site’s a 401 as of this post.
Hey, I don’t want to make it rain on Mozilla’s parade but I think this is quite the overkill. They’ve definitely won over most of the geeks with Firefox and I believe they’ve been experiencing the best viral marketing by having geeks blog and write all things Firefox. So why have a new campaign? Just fix that damn memory leak issue, will ya?
