Firefox Quick Tip: Always Display the Location and Tab Bars in Full Screen Mode

I’m not a big fan of full-screen browsing since I do keep a lot of windows open. But if I’m trying to appreciate a site’s content, I usually find myself hitting F11 (the keyboard shortcut) to switch to full-screen viewing. Not really a quirk, but something that might annoy you in Firefox 3 is that the Location and Tab Bars disappear (slides upwards and become “invisible”).

Here’s a quick about:config tweak to always display those two bars.

1. Access the about:config page (and prepare to possibly void your warranty :p)
2. In the filter field, type in browser.fullscreen.autohide
3. Click on the Value to change it to false
4. Close the page

To disable that sliding up animation:

1. Access the about:config page
2. In the filter field, type in browser.fullscreen.animateUp
3. Click on the value field (“1″ as default) to bring up another window. Type in “0″ as your new value.
4. Click OK
5. Close the page
