So our favorite browser is quite the memory hog and, as I’ve been told, it loads quite slowly too compared to Opera and even Internet Explorer (a travesty!). And it’s quite true. Even with Windows Vista prefetch, a dual-core processor and a couple gigs of RAM, it still takes quite a while to load.
Apparently, it’s quite a problem across computers and that’s why the open source gods have gifted us with Firefox Preloader. It’s a Windows-only tool that loads during startup (unless you set it not to) that would help you launch Firefox instantaneously. It can even help you manage different Firefox versions.
However, while this speeds up your system, it aggravates memory issues. While it’s not to the tune of 100MBs of RAM, 4 at start-up and 10 with Firefox loaded is something memory-conscious people might frown upon.
Download Firefox Preloader here.
