Follow Through

While many would say that focusing on action is the best way to succeed, there is one more aspect to achieving your goals that seems to take the wayside – following through. It is a common lapse for many to accomplish a task and leave things as is. With the primary objective done and over with, what is there to do anyway? Following through makes sure that you have not only done your job, but you’ve done it right.

Evaluate. Not just because a task has been taken care of, you leave it at that. Take time to see what work and what did work. How successful were you in terms of your overall goal. Note the steps you’ve done to accomplish something and the people who have contributed to your success. This way, you can create your winning formula.

Thank you notes. The power of a small token of appreciation is underestimated by a lot of people. So why not send out or leave thank you notes to people who have been instrumental to your accomplishments. This makes them feel more appreciated and they’d acknowledge you as someone who is worth their time and effort.

Casual calls. Touching base with these people also helps. A casual phone call once in a while or a surprise visit (just be sure the person’s not too busy) can help you remind them that you still exist and you still value whatever relationship you were able to build with them.
