Hotline

What can you do for a troubled friend? Do you have someone you love who’s undergoing a dark stage in his life? If you look at today’s news especially on teens, you will find that there’s a lot of instances of DUIs, drug abuse, violence, and other forms of crimes. You’d love to help but you don’t know where to start. Worse, every time you offer to help out, your friend tells you s/he doesn’t need any help. Listen to the things that are not being said. Because the truth is, your friend needs your help desperately.

One thing you have to remember, friends are very sensitive about their issues. The imbalance in behavior is caused by depression and great pain. Talk to your friend and listen more than you speak. No bet you have a lot of advice in your head but don’t overwhelm your friend by going all out.

Watch your words. No doubt you are talking about sensitive issues. But if you feel strongly about his actions, he feels worse. Even though it seems that he’s not taking responsibility for his actions, he’s actually scared of what he’s doing to his future. His problem is that he doesn’t know what to do about his life, and where to start.

Look up on the several hotlines and have them on your speed dial. There’s a suicide hotline and a crisis hotline, those services is ready to help you 24/7.
