Achieving a corporate look without compromising style could be very difficult. The office is a very classy place, and almost always, what you wear affects your career growth. Although style is not the prime mover of your career, it definitely affects how your bosses, colleagues, and clients perceive you. There lies the importance of being a power dresser, to complete your already excellent performance.
Get an empty box, open your closet, and ditch the ones which do not spell classy. Stop wearing your favorite skirt that everybody’s complaining about, and those shoes which are so five years ago. If you don’t see them, you can’t wear them. No more making excuses that a day of bad fashion is due to laundry over pile.
You have a salary, so buy new clothes. It’s not luxury if you really need them, and you know you do. It’s not splurging if you’re smart shopping. Check out the soonest sale and save for it.
What to buy: Among the must-haves for your work are a pair of classic black pumps, a pantyhose for when you wear skirts, and corporate dresses. Although black is the most common corporate look, you can go with more colorful options, just as long as you don’t overdo it. Look up current corporate fashion online to see what look you can imitate.
Accessorize corporately. This means no heavy bling. A classic leather watch should be on your list. Also, be aware of what jewelry you put on. Don’t wear too flashy earrings and necklaces. Usually, pearl earrings are the best way to go. As for necklaces, try to match whatever earrings you use. Just make sure to follow the basic rule in accessorizing. Limit it to only one main attraction, with all the rest as simple as possible.

1I totally agree on watching the jewelry you wear. While personally I love big, chunky jewelry, that doesn’t work at the office on those days when professionalism MUST be followed (meetings, visitors, etc.) I always want my jewelry to look good, match my outfit and make an impression. At http://sandtcreations.etsy.com you can find lots of jewelry–yes, some quite chunky and unique, but others that are described as perfect for the office—simple graduated strands of colored pearls, gemstones and pendants that are lovely but not overwhelming, etc. If you purchase something and mention corporate in your message to them they will DISCOUNT YOUR TOTAL 20% thru the end of NOVEMBER. http://www.sandtcreations.com
