You might not realize it but the eye strain or migraine that you get at the end of the day might not be from ogling your hot colleague or your nagging boss. It just might simply be your monitor.
First thing to check is your refresh rate. If your monitor allows for a higher refresh rate than just simply 60Hz, then go for the higher one. You can do this by accessing Display Settings (right-click on desktop -> Display Settings -> Advanced Settings in XP -> Monitor Tab, right-click on desktop -> Personalize -> Display Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Monitor Tab in Vista).
If you’d want to further refine your display than the following will be quite handy. Punching all those teeny-weenie buttons on your monitor can sometimes just f*ck your monitor’s settings up. Like wonder why that picture of an orange suddenly turned blue or something. Screen Check a simple image guide that you can view in order to help you with your display settings. While this wouldn’t promise a full calibration, getting the brightness and the contrast right would give you crisper and more color-accurate displays. This might also mean that your eyes wouldn’t strain as much differentiating the colors (unless you’re color blind, of course).
