If you can forage mushrooms in your bathroom, then it’s time to clean up, you filthy pig. Okay, so I’m exaggerating (or am I?). But cleaning your bathroom can really be a chore. And one of the most difficult things to clean in your bathroom would probably be the grout that holds your tiles. Take a look at yours, it shouldn’t be black or moss green or fungal gray. The nasty thing is, you have to put in some intense scrubbing to get into those nooks and crannies. But here’s one technique to help you deal with grout without having to break that arm with scrubbing.
What you need:
- Spray bottle
- Rubber gloves
- Chlorine bleach
- Warm water
- Bathroom cleaner
- Sponge
What to do:
- Put on rubber gloves for protection for your delicate hands.
- Fill the spray bottle with one half chlorine bleach and one half warm water. Be careful dealing with the bleach. Avoid skin and eye contact especially when undiluted.
- Adjust the spray bottle’s nozzle so that it shoots streams rather than a fine mist.
- Spray directly to the grout in sweeping motions. Make sure to soak the lines.
- Let it stand for 15 to 20 minutes and let the bleach do the work.
- Follow it up with a sponge down with the suggested mix of bathroom cleaner.
- Rinse.

1Although I think you can easily do the grout yourself, I think its almost impossible to get it really clean without some sort of scrubbing. I have tried almost everything. I did purchase some grout cleaner from an online company that finally worked. While searching on Google I found http://www.thegroutcleaningstore.com. I was worried at first about buying online, but I needed something that worked. The chemical is great, and I was also able to get a brush with a pole so I didn’t have to get on my hands and knees.
