How to Give Yourself More Quality Time

Giving oneself enough quality time is not as easy as it used to be. Gone are the days of a carefree lifestyle because you just committed yourself to a full time job. Now there’s no questioning whether your job is kick-ass or not because I bet it is. But at the end of the day, the question is always whether or not you’re happy. And your chance at happiness depends on whether or not you still have enough time left for yourself. And almost always, the answer is NO.

People need time off work. It’s not the time when you sleep, and it’s not the time when you eat dinner with the family either. It’s the time which you need to read the next book on your list, go to your salon, shop for new outfits, and enjoy a long warm bath–from a couple of minutes to an hour, it is very important to spend time with yourself.

The earliest self time you can have is a morning jog. Get up at least 30 minutes than your usual waking time, and slip into your sweat pants. Jog around the neighborhood and just enjoy the cool wind on your face. Running is a way to feel past your anxieties and worries. Running revs up your body so you will be charged and ready for the day’s activities.

Drop the habit of procrastination. The only thing worse than having so much to do is when they pile up. Having a lot of deliverables is OK as long as they have respective deadlines; but tasks which you’ve shelved has a way of coming back all at the same time, and when that happens, it’s more than you can manage.

Go out every week. Adopt a new luxury which you will do regularly, whether it’s going to the movie house, going out on a date or trying a new restaurant. Weekends are meant to be fun so go ahead and forget about work.
