People get fired everyday and it’s not always deserved. For all you know, your boss can wake up one day in a bad mood and your reprimand ends in a nasty forced resignation. I’m not trying to scare you but it’s better to be prepared than be caught unawares.
You can get fired with or without just cause. So the best way to prepare for it is to make sure you got money in the bank so that even if you get booted out you still have sustenance. Being out of a job is a major crisis especially if you’re the breadwinner in the family.
Starting now, allocate a percentage to your savings. Calculate your salary and see how much you can give to your account and do it on a regular basis. You can also check for ways on how you can make your money grow. Consult your bank and ask how you can apply for mutual funds or time deposit.
Be on a constant jobhunt. Knowing your options even if your job is secure is not a bad thing. Just keep yourself on the market so you’ll know what you’re worth. It’s important that you know where you can go when the going gets tough. Following up pending applications is better than having to start from scratch.
Always update your resume. Always encode the trainings and seminars you attended. You need to keep your resume updated so that you don’t miss out any important merit and qualification.
Leave with your pride. If you were forced to resign, it’s hard to not express how furious you are. But if deep down you know your anger can’t turn things around, just leave graciously. Remember that you are an asset, it’s just that your boss is an ass.
