How to Increase Your Inner Peace
It’s pretty hard to find inner peace these days when everything else goes fast. Thing is, having a little calmness of the mind and soul can do a lot in maintaining one’s sanity. Once you have found peace within, my little grasshopper, you’ll find out that most of the things around you also follow.
Stop worrying about needless things. Make a list of the things that really stress you out and reflect on them one-by-one. For example, you feel that you don’t have enough time for yourself. Perhaps you’ve taken more responsibility in your hands when you could have delegated them to other people? You don’t have to do all the household chores as some can be taken care of by the spouse and the kids.
Find a relaxing hobby. Taking care of a garden, or even as simple as single pot plant can do wonders. There is nothing more relaxing than nurturing a plant and watching it grow.
Exercise. May it be yoga or brisk walking or swimming… Hey, it can even be boxing! Physical exertion from a good workout relieves the body of some of the stress during the day.
Treat yourself. A candy bar or watch a movie alone. Buy a comic book or a nice dress. Designate a “me” hour or day or weekend.
De-clutter your life. Get rid of all the junk around you. Clean the home. Organize your finances. Weed-out the clothes that make you feel depressed out of your wardrobe.
Do good things to and for other people. It can be as simple as smiling at the doorman, or complementing an employee’s good work. Help a lady cross the street, or a stressed mother carrying a child pick-up a fallen apple from her grocery bag. You can even volunteer at the city shelter, or tell stories to children at the public library. Doing good things to others make one feel good about himself too.
