It’s not always true that jocks have it easy. Not only do they have to maintain top form in their chosen sport, but they also have to perform well in their academics (at least to maintain an average). This is aside from the social life they have to de-stress a bit after working hard both in the field and in the classroom. They key to finding the perfect balance for all of these demands is good time management.

Make use of your hours wisely. Wake up early. Try to simply routine tasks. Instead of walking, perhaps riding a bike to class will get you an extra 5 minutes. Finish lunch in 30 minutes instead of an hour.

Make a plan and timetable for your projects and term papers in advance. Finish assignments way before the given deadline. You’ll be surprised by how much time can be freed by not cramming.

Get a tutor. A tutor can help you keep up with your classes and lessons and difficult subject matters can be explained to you well. This will help speed up your study time, as opposed to wasting time scratching your head with difficult topics.

Having a tutor is well and good but as a student, it is still your responsibility to learn things on your own. Make it a point to set aside an hour or two everyday to do nothing but study. As much as possible, schedule this on the same time each day. Do not bump it up (or bump it off) your schedule for anything less than a life-and-death situation.

Go to a quiet place at home or in the campus where there are absolutely no distractions. Do not bring your iPod with you or any item that could distract you. Set your phone to silent mode or better yet, turn it off. Use the time to make solid work.
