If you are able to give very detailed instructions to pet sitters, then why not do the same to your children’s baby sitters? Sure, there is that fact that your children do know how to communicate and that precious “Twinkles” cannot. But then again, how precious is precious anyway? So what exactly is the pertinent information that you need to make sure that your baby sitter knows before you step out the door of your house?
- Leave not only your mobile phone number but the contact number your companion’s as well. Try to also to include number of you good friend or a close relative’s. This is so that if you cannot be reached for some reason, your baby sitter can try theirs in case of emergency.
- Leave also the contact details of your family doctor, and the fire and police departments.
- Leave instructions on your children’s mealtime. Include what (and what not) to eat, when to eat, and the food or other substance to which your children is allergic.
- Alert your sitter on any medical problem that they need to know. Do not forget which medications your children take for both simple and special ailments.
- Leave details on where to find supplies such as feeding equipment, diapers, fresh clothes, toys, books, and other stuff.
- If your children or children are of school-age, then leave instructions on their homework, TV, playtime, and bedtime schedules including what they are or not allowed to watch or do. Include special habits or rituals that your kids practice.
- If your kids are still infants or if they have special needs, teach your sitter about how to manipulate the crib or other equipment that your kid/s use.
- Of course, don’t forget to tell what time you are expected to be home.
