Every year, it gets more and more difficult to celebrate our birthdays. It was different when we were teens, when we couldn’t wait to grow up. But now, growing up means growing old. And when it’s that time of the year when we have to add another year in our lives, how we wish we can just roll it backwards. Or, when we watch too much Hollywood, we start thinking about getting a boob job or some nip-tuck.
But even before all these surgical procedures have posed as effective solutions to the global problem of aging, we have been able to fight off the signs. All you need is to remember the age-old, tried-and-tested solutions to make you look naturally young, without overspending.
Alcohol can be good for you. No kidding! Moderated intake of alcohol actually improves your body system. Yes, studies show that it can help reduce heart risks, prevent cancers and even help with kidney stones. But only in moderation! Moderation in women means half to one drink a day; one to two for men.
Ward off those nasty side effects of smoking. How? By quitting. You’ve got every good reason to stop smoking. Besides, it gives you an ugly discoloration in your gums. Second-hand smoking is just as bad for your lungs. So if you smoke, don’t smoke near the non-smokers, and if you don’t smoke, stay away from smokers.
Care for your skin. Vanity is a virtue. And it’s better to prevent wrinkles than to try to hide them. So when it comes to skin care, consult a dermatologist and know how you can best cleanse, moisturize, and tone your type of skin. It’s the best accessory you have.
Always have a ready-to-eat fruit in the bag. When you’re on the go, and you feel hungry, you might crave for a chocolate bar or some chips. For a quick snack, munch on an apple or some grapes. It’s healthy and it’s going to rehydrate your body. So make sure you always carry a bite or two in your tote.
