It’s been a month, and yet you still play your theme song on your iPod. If it’s over then it’s over, right? How hard is it to get over an ex, anyway? Oh come on, get some old school tunes like Go West’s King of Wishful Thinking.
Breakup is a real bitch. You think you found someone who’s going to be the One… but then a little argument balloons into a big fight, one thing led to another and all of a sudden, poof! There goes romance flying out your window. You have the right to get emotional over it, but give yourself a cutoff date!
What you need after a breakup is a fresh start. You may not want to date rightaway, but that’s ok. There’s no need to rush things. Usually, spending quality time with oneself can bring you back to your bearings. Don’t use your alone time so sulk or mope. Use it to recharge, reflect, and to bounce back from where you left off.
Get as far away from sappy movies as you can. You’re not ready for these yet because they will only bring back fond memories, which is just going to depress you. So watch that game show instead.
Spend time with your friends whom you missed when your schedule was all about your ex. Friends will lift your spirits and boost your self-esteem. Choose who you’re sharing your heartache to. Not everyone is sensitive, so save your heartache story for your closest buddies. The last thing you need is people gossiping about your breakup.
Box up souvenirs. Get a huge box and lug in every letter, card, photos, and stuffed bears which will only remind you of days past. You’ll move on faster if you don’s see these things around everyday.
