1Actually, if blackjack were as easy as all that, everyone would be winning and casinos would go bankrupt.
What this writer is referring to is the 50-year old notion of basic strategy, now hopelessly antiquated and inefficient.
Don’t take my word for it. Read the works of the basic strategy writers very carefully. They’ll tell you that, at best, it’s a break-even system and, at worst, the casino has the advantage.
Yet they call it “correct” or “perfect” strategy when it’s anything but.
Blackjack strategy has come a long way since Thorp’s Beat The Dealer (introducing the world to the theory of basic strategy) came out in 1962. It’s no longer state-of-the-art and it’s been proved useless.
