What this writer is referring to is the 50-year old notion of basic strategy, now hopelessly antiquated and inefficient. 
Don&#039;t take my word for it. Read the works of the basic strategy writers very carefully. They&#039;ll tell you that, at best, it&#039;s a break-even system and, at worst, the casino has the advantage.
Yet they call it &quot;correct&quot; or &quot;perfect&quot; strategy when it&#039;s anything but.
Blackjack strategy has come a long way since Thorp&#039;s Beat The Dealer (introducing the world to the theory of basic strategy) came out in 1962. It&#039;s no longer state-of-the-art and it&#039;s been proved useless.</description>
