Everyone is heading to the gym except for you. We all want a hot bod for ourselves — toned arms and legs, a sexy abs, and a sculpted chest. But before you sign up for a gym class, why not read these pointers to teach you a thing or two about how to get started on bodybuilding.

Read up on the basics of body health. You need to be an expert on your own body so you will know how to best build it. Know your body type, consult with a doctor to ask if your body can take serious bodybuilding activities, and if you can, get physically examined first to know about your over-all health condition.

Don’t rush yourself. Undoubtedly you want to have results faster, but using weights which are just too heavy will only injure your muscles. As a beginner, start with light weights. In time, you can progress to heavier weights as you develop your muscles. Observe this or you’ll just hurt yourself.

Start with a full body workout. Your goal is to achieve a sexy full body. Focusing on building one part of your body, i.e., your biceps, will make them bigger than the rest of your body. You can look up routines online or ask your gym about their full body workout classes. Or you can also sign up for dance lessons because dancing is a really effective workout. Keep at your routine for a few months until your body develops more toned muscles.

The interest over bodybuilding might subdue after a few weeks when you start feeling tired and exhausted and you’re tempted to go back to the old days of just lounging about watching TV. To avoid this, make bodybuilding convenient. Enroll in the nearest gym, get a workout buddy, and sign up for a not-so-hectic workout schedule. Workout should relieve your stress, not add up to it.

Think hard if you’ll be keeping this up. Bulking up and achieving that chiseled frame is a commitment and it will have life-long impacts. Many have to keep up their routines in order to maintain the look. And the routine can be pretty expensive – protein shakes, supplements, rabid workout sessions… As you grow old, this will become increasingly difficult.
