Travel Tip: How to Pack Toiletries
Staying a few days away from home? Need to pack toiletries? Not sure if you should bring all your shampoo bottles, conditioner tubes, body wash, facial cleanser-toner-moisturizer, deodorant, toothpaste, yadda-yadda with you? Answer is – no. Be a pack rat and bring what you need but without packing the bathroom sink.
Of course, if you’re staying in a hotel, you can always opt to use the complimentary toiletries that they have. But if you prefer to use your own, then by all means do so. Just keep in mind that the easiest way to deal with packing toiletries is to keep everything at a minimum. I usually bring two small, clear, plastic toiletry bags with me whenever I need to travel. One is where I put all the “wet things,” or those that I can bring with me in the shower stall. The other bag is where I keep the relatively dry sanitation implements.
Do you know those small, clear plastic bottles they sell in drugstores? Buy some of those. You can fill them up with your own shampoo, conditioner, facial wash, etc., and they’ll be small enough to fit in your case. I also buy me those small sized deodorant sticks, travel-sized toothpaste and toothbrush too. Instead of bringing razors, I bring one razor with 2-3 disposable blades.
By the way, if you are traveling on a plane, better to ask the airport beforehand (or check online) for travel advisory regarding packing of personal belongings. They might have special requirements or prohibitions when it comes to travel cases.
