Before the day ends, I’d just like to wish Wikipedia (the one-stop resource for lazy students), a happy birthday. While everyone is still having problems with their dates (I know some who still end the dates with a “7″), this just made me realize the growth of Wikipedia as a resource and the time that has passed since it was put up.
While I am a staunch advocate of not using Wikipedia as a source for academic research, I do acknowledge its importance for getting a brief overview of many subjects. It’s just the nature of Wikipedia having free-for-all editing that unsettles me.
Still, it’s the site’s birthday and I don’t want to make it rain (or snow) on their parade. Seven years. Wow. It’s great actually, it just makes you realize that you’re growing old.
