Why is it beneficial for companies to limit the internet use of their employees?

Some companies have strict Internet use because, let’s face it, there is that small number of employees who would abuse their Internet privileges which means less productivity since people would rather be on Facebook than actually doing work they are being for to do.

Employees who know that somebody else is watching them will certainly get their acts together and will refrain from using company resources for personal use. This can save time, money, and more work will actually be done.

Stricter internet use can also mean an increase in security. There will be less chances of malware getting into the system. Some malware can be so bad that they can even stop production for a few hours, or worse, the whole day. Systems can also be breached and sensitive information can be accessed by hackers. Monitoring employees’ use is less expensive than cleaning and fixing up problems.
