breath

Having halitosis, or more commonly known as bad breath, can be very embarrassing. The best way to prevent this is to practice good oral hygiene such as:

Oral hygiene. Brush your teeth after every meal and don’t forget to floss too. These will prevent food particles, which causes bacteria to multiply, from depositing in between your teeth. Clean your tongue as well. You may use your toothbrush but there are tongue cleaners available out there. At night, before sleeping, use an antibacterial mouth wash. Avoid alcohol-based ones. To be sure, ask for your dentist’s recommendation. Speaking of which, visit the dentist at least twice a year (every six months) for cleaning and check-up.

Right diet. Diet can also cause or prevent bad breath. Drink plenty of water. It cleanses the body and makes organs function properly. Eat food that has plenty of fiber (fruits and vegetables are ideal) because they cleanse the colon. Digestion problems can also cause bad breath. Milk products, coffee, onion, and garlic has strong odors and they also contain enough acid conducive to bacterial growth. Immediately wash your mouth after consuming such foods. Alcohol and smoking can also cause bad breath. If you can’t avoid them, chew sugarless gum.

If you’ve done all of this and still get bad breath, then have a medical examination as soon as possible. Your bad breath might stem from some other medical condition.
