Sleeping Kid

Bunk beds can be very good furniture space savers for your children’s room. However, if you are considering buying bunk kids for your boys, you also have to consider safety.

Make sure that beds are placed in a corner of your children bedroom. Walls should be able to provide extra support to the beds so that it will block some of the areas for falling.

Ensure that the top mattress fits perfectly to the bed frame. It  shouldn’t slip over. This will prevent your kid from slipping into the gap and suffocate.

Instead of a leaning ladder on the top bunk bed, buy something which has the ladder attached to the bed itself. Some beds also have a small nightlight to make sure that the ladder is lighted so your child can use the ladder safely.

Install a guardrail on the top bunk if it hasn’t one. The gap between the side rail and the guardrail should be no more than 3 inches apart.

Children younger than six years of age should not be allowed to sleep in
the upper bunk. Older children will be able to climb up and down safely.

Tell your children that rough housing and jumping on both bunks is not allowed.
