Many parents go overboard when it comes to buying clothes for their children. It’s quite easy when these tiny garments can really be cute.
For practicality’s sake, parents should remember that buying baby clothes should be based on three matters – comfort, convenience, and practicality. Those hand-stitched embroidery and soft ruffles can all be considered bonuses.
Mind the material of the baby clothes. Lightweight cotton or cotton and poly blends are ideal materials for baby clothes. They are absorbent, porous, and they are comfortable, not to mention durable and very easy to clean. Cotton is also highly unlikely to cause skin irritation.
Make sure that the fit is loose and that the clothes are not too tight and non-binding. Check the design if there is anything that might press into your baby’s skin. Avoid clothes with zippers, buttons, drawstring, and any ornamentation that can hurt your child.
Consider also the ease of putting the clothes on and taking them off especially during diaper changes.
