Here are some tips on how to clean your chopping boards at home and make sure that they stay safe from contamination of bacteria from different foods:

The first thing you need to do is to select the right chopping board. The best one is made of closed grained hardwood such as Rockhard Maple. Softer woords can be dangerous as they are prone to knife cuts. Open-grained woods are susceptible to stains and they tend to hold food particles.

The fastest way to clean your wooden chopping board is to dampen a paper towel with white vinegar and use it to wipe the chopping board. Leave to dry. for tougher stains, you can scrub it with salt and a lemon wedge.

To protect the wood, you can use walnut oil or raw almond oil. Just be sure to clean the chopping board first with soap and water.

It is best to have a different chopping board for fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, and poultry to avoid cross contamination.
