Why is it so difficult to earn money but so easy to lose it? Well, if money seems to flow out of your hands as fast as water does, then you might want to curb that urge to spend. Here are a few suggestions on how to keep a tight hold of that cash:
Your money don’t have brains so don’t let it control you. It should be the other way around. Budget. Calculate how much money you receive monthly and divide that amount to percentages for paying utilities, for personal spending, and for savings. If everything is allocated, then you would stop overspending.
Leave your credit cards at home or just bring one for emergencies. Pay off debt and mortgages as soon and as quickly as possible. For small purchases, use cash instead.
In connection to this, avoid impulse buying. Before purchasing anything, think twice. Is it a want or a need? If you need it, do you need it immediately. I know someone who asks herself first, “When will I wear this and where? Shall this end up at the back of my closet?” before buying clothes. If the answer is “I’m not gonna wear it anytime soon,” then she doesn’t buy that item.
Another important thing to look into is to find out the source of your woes. Where do you spend the most? Could be you’re always eating out. Then start learning how to cook and bring lunches to work instead. Finding out where your mistakes lie will make it easier for you to correct them.
