Because we can’t get enough of suggesting ways on how to live more to our means, here are tips on how to live a little less extravagantly.
Food. Instead of filling your cupboards as your goal, try your best to feed your family filling and nutritious food as much as possible. Think fresh meat, produce, poultry, and dairy instead of canned goods and junk foods. Nutritious meals are more filling.
Cutting Back. Make a list of things of which you and your family spend a lot on. This might produce a lot of lively discussion and negotiation among family members, but try and find out which on the list you can do without or at least, cut back on. For example, would it be possible to adjust the allotted number of minutes on the phone for the teen-aged members of the family.
Planning. Budgeting and sticking to it is always the most important part of frugal living. If you are budgeting with a family in mind, then it’d better to always plan how you are going to dispence money. A calendar would be your best friend here. Check your and your children’s activities for the next month and adjust your budget as needed.
