
Sometimes it’s really difficult to trudge on even on the mundane reality of everyday living. Here are a few steps on how to have a more upbeat and hopeful attitude everyday:
At the bottom of your everyday to-do list, write one or two things that you would really like to do that day. Make sure that it is doable and realistic. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can be as simple as “eating a sugar cone with three scoops of my favorite ice cream.” You can treat this as a reward at the end of the day, or you can simply do it randomly during the day (schedule permitting of course). This will add as a motivation, something different to which you’ll look forward everyday.
When things get a little down, make a list of things that inspire you – it can be dreams, hopes, your family, your partner. Remember why these inspire you. What qualities do these people possess? Perhaps you can adapt these traits to your own personality as well. Or what kind of happiness will your hopes and dreams will bring if they become a reality. But don’t just fantasize about them. try to act on them.
Be thankful that you are alive and well each day. Share this gratefulness by doing something good to anyone may it be a stranger or a co-worker or a family member. Doing something good can make you feel good the rest of the day and will inspire you to do even better.
