flu

Flu season is here and like the old adage says, “Prevention is better than cure.” Here are ways to prevent being infected by the flu virus:

The most important prevention is, of course, proper hygiene. Wash your hands after using the bathroom for a good thirty seconds to one minute, scrubbing it well with soap under running tap water. try not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with your bare hands. Use a tissue to cover your mouth if you are going to cough, or your nose if you are going to sneeze.

Always keep the surfaces in your home clean, most especially the kitchen and the bathroom.

Consider getting flu shots. Ask your doctor about it as it is not always available to everyone.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and exercise. Having a weak immune system due to poor diet will make you susceptible to illness.

If there are already cases of the flu in your area, avoid high traffic areas or places where large groups of people gather. If anyone at home is sick, let them stay at home and isolate them from those who aren’t infected. Let them get lots of rest and keep them hydrated with water. Good convalescence food are light meals such as soup broth.
