The difference between high-definition televison (HDTV) and standard analog or digital televisions is that it shows sharper pictures and clearer audio.

To get HD channels, first, you’ll need a high-definition television set which is wider than regular televisions. HD television has a 16×9 aspect ratio while a normal TV only has 4×3.

Contact your cable provider and check if you would be able to avail of HD channels. Cable companies usually charge an additional monthly fee for providing a special box which would be able to transmit HD signals to your television.

You may have the cable company set up your HD cable box but it is easy enough to do it on your own. Simply follow the directions and plug the corresponding cables to the television.

Turn on both your television and cable box. Now you’re ready to watch! Check designated HD channels. You’ll know if a program is in HD if there are no black bars that appear on the side of the screen.
