Not all managers are lucky enough to have his dream team. Sometimes you’re stuck with slow and less-than-efficient staff. How can you handle these typical problems?

It’s frustrating when your staff hands over work output which is less than you expected–not only does it create delays, it also means more work for you to complement the output that’s simply not good enough. To solve this problem, make it a point to always state your expectations when you give instructions.

Employees who are not efficient don’t have a clear idea of what their objectives should be. You should clear it out for them. Tell them what you want to achieve with every project so that they can deliver your desired results.

Investigate why the staff didn’t meet your standards. You need to know if your staff can’t do it or refuses to do it. This is how you can know which appropriate actions you should take.

Send them to training. It may take one whole day or a few days, but trainings can shape them and can later on transform a usual week’s worth of work to days. When you give assignments, make sure your staff is competent for it. Otherwise, teach him how to do it so he can learn how you want it done. Supply them with tools, resources, and if needed, manuals.

Help them mingle with each other. People have different cultural backgrounds which make it even harder for them to relate to each other. You can solve this problem by organizing outings where your staff can spend time as a team in a stress-free setup. Try a team-building activity on the beach. Or you can just treat them out to dinner sometimes.
