How does a parent deal with a daughter’s teen pregnancy? Indeed, having a baby is a very sensitive issue, especially when the expecting mom is a teenager. It’s difficult for parents to come to terms with this kind of reality. But past the anger and the disappointment, you cannot ignore that your child needs you now more than ever. How can you be her support system?
There is a high possibility of pregnancy risk for younger teens because their bodies have not developed yet. Schedule her a medical checkup to check if she is in a good condition.
Equally important as physical health is the mental and emotional, health. After the confrontations and the drama that followed, is your daughter ready for motherhood? Help her become ready by giving her good advice on parenting.
Support her good decisions and help her make good ones. Through guidance, she can decide on important matters such as: Is she going to get married or is she going to be a single parent? Is she going to finish school or find work? Is she going to move out or stay with you?
Let her know you’re there when she needs you. She may have misgivings and hesitations to ask favors
because of the frustration she gave you, so you have to encourage her to seek your help should she need it.
