People have different reasons for stress. It could be family, health, or finances. Still, for a lot of people, their work is the number one cause of stress. And it probably is, because of the following reasons.
Expectations. Bosses always expect good performance from you, but reality will make sure that you fail sometimes. And because you want to earn incentives rather than suffer the consequences, you’ll be pushed to your limits.
The office is a place of gossip. And even you are guilty of it. It’s inevitable to discuss rumors going around, and it’s fun when it’s not about you. But if a nasty story about you starts spreading, it’s sure going to drive you a little nuts.
Job limits. Your general job description might make you happy, but I’m sure you don’t like everything about it. You might have problems with your working hours, your salary deductions, the system, the gray areas and more. Such limits give you stress because you cannot make all the calls.
Increasing quota. Jobs related to sales usually have quota–some must-meet numbers which the person has to achieve at a given deadline. In some cases, the quota increases every month or so, thus becoming a growing pain in the neck.
Limited resources. Technology makes work easier and processes a lot faster. Some offices have limited resources, and their systems need updating. Downtimes and infrastructure errors result in frustration and stress because they delay results.
Relationship with co-workers. You can’t work at your best if you hate the guts of the people around you. If there’s no chemistry in the room and things are often unfriendly, then transactions will tend to be difficult.
