If you’re one who perpetually comes to work late, then better start shaping up. No one wants a slacker in their workforce especially with today’s economic situation. You can’t blame employers for milking value out of worker to get back every cent they’re paying.

Sleep earlier. I’ve been trying this for a week and it really helps me get up earlier the next day. Of course, it gets more complicated if you’re suffering from insomnia, but still you have to get yourself to sleep earlier than your usual. Drink warm milk, enjoy a warm bath, read a book, buy a softer bed, or move to a quieter neighborhood—anything that can help get you sleepy faster.

Give yourself penalties for every instance of lateness like no dessert or no TV. In the same way, give yourselves incentives for every appointment met on time.

Put clocks in every corner of your room. You’re always late because you’re not making yourself aware of time. But if you see time everywhere, you can be alerted of your appointments and be pressured to get moving. I’ve also tried relocating my alarm clock somewhere I can’t reach if I were lying in my bed. That way, I’ve to get up to stop the annoying sound.

Set reminders on your phone. This technique is very useful to a friend of mine. He alerts himself an hour before every meeting and a day before any major event. This way, there’s always enough time for preparation and no reason to be late.
