Violets

Flowers can enhance the mood in any room, and one classic flower that’s sure to look perfect inside your home are African violets. Here are tips on how to care for these blooms.

The good thing with violets is that they’re affordable than most house flowers.

African violets need indirect sunlight, so you can place their pots in your windowsill facing west or south.

Watering your violets are not difficult, either. If your pot measures more than four inches, you’ll have to water it at least once a week. Ever heard of bottom-watering? Place the pot over lukewarm water,
allowing only the pot’s hole to absorb enough moisture. Leave it for about twenty minutes and it’s back to the windowsill for the sun.

You can also opt to simply sprinkle water on the soil’s surface, without wetting the foliage. Or better yet, buy one of those self-watering pots.

Violets can use fertilizer for added nourishment. Do it regularly. Buy the water-soluble type and dissolve it completely. But before you apply it, make sure you’ve read the instructions in the box because
you need to know the rates. Apply the fertilizer every time you water because this will enable your plant to produce more blooms.
