Letter

Although not many job applicants send a “thank you” letter after being interviewed by a company, why would that let it stop you from doing so? Here are some tips on how to write a “thank you” note to companies who have interviewed you:

Make sure that you word it properly. Take time to write drafts before you write the actual letter. Check the employer’s address,  the name of the specific person who interviewed you, and his or her job title.

Although your aim is to thank the interviewer, it won’t hurt to take a last shot at selling yourself. Re-emphasize your key skills briefly so you can leave a lasting impression of your capabilities.

Keep the letter concise, or that it would fit a page of an A4 sized paper. Two paragraphs- one for thanking, and  another for some “sales talk” should do it. Make sure that the grammar and the spelling are correct. Have someone go over it just to be safe.

Once you’ve written the draft, you can now type your letter and print it, or e-mail it. Do a last check so you don’t have typos in there.

Make sure that you send the thank you note within 48 hours whether by snail mail or by e-mail. Later than that would not make as good impression as it would if you had sent it earlier.
