Chips

We know how difficult it can be to resist the crispiest of crisps. But there is a reason why junk food is called as such – they are seldom filling and they contain additives that are bad for your health. Not to mention the high level of cholesterol. So how do you keep your hand from reaching into that bag of chips?

Keep healthy snacks available. We usually eat what is on hand. If you want to start snacking healthy, then buy more fresh fruit, dried fruit, yoghurt, unsalted nuts, and vegetables (carrot and celery sticks). Keep them in your fridge, in your bag, in your car, and even at your desk at work. This way, when you feel hungry, you’ll reach for the healthier option.

Eat before you go food shopping. When you’re hungry, you tend to buy a lot more food, and junk food can be very tempting especially if you see them stacked up in along the aisle. It would be very, very easy to give in and laden your cart with them.

Reward yourself sometimes. Total deprivation can be bad. When your resolve breaks, you’ll find yourself eating double or triple the amount that you usually consume. The key here is to treat yourself from to time. But mind your portions. Instead of consuming a bag of potato chips in one sitting, divide them so you can just eat a handful a day.
