Worker

Keeping the people you manage at work is quite simple, in theory but a little difficult to enforce as it may involve several factors such as company policy, etc. Nevertheless, it is still good to know which are the things that would make the work environment a much happier place.

Your people would certainly love competitive employment packages. Offer tangible salaries and benefits will put you on top of your employees’ list of favorite people. This will also attract talented people to work for your company, not to mention current employees will also be motivated to work harder. This option may be costly but just think about how much a high turnover would eventually cost you.

Know your employees. If you can, try to learn the names that go with the faces. Invest in some effort to find out what motivates your employees. As much as possible, use this information to up the level of morale of your employees.

Stop tyranny and give your people a little autonomy. A good delegator knows when to let go. Be on the sides for support and monitoring, but leave your employees to prove themselves. People dislike having other people look over their shoulders at work. By letting them be independent, employees will be more productive and will have a higher level of pride in their work.

Respect your employees and they will respect you in return. Develop a strong and positive working relationship with them. Uphold professional ethics so your employees will know that you don’t do monkey business, and in turn they will try their best to uphold the same principles. Know when to be firm and know when to praise. Be stable and consistent and your employees will love working for you (and the company).
