Boss

It might seem unfair, but if your boss is playing favorite, he of she must have reasons. It won’t change things on their side, but being the better person, you’ll be able to get past the hurt and be professional about it. As long as their favoritism does not affect your professional growth directly, then just go on your usual business of working hard to be the best employee. Even if you are not the boss’ favorite, no one will be able to deny your worth in the workplace.

Here are the probable reasons why the boss play favorites:

Boss is insecure. He tends to to favor those who do not intimidate him or those who he doesn’t see as threats to his position.

Boss is using this ploy to pit people against each other. Either he has a sadistic, or controlling nature, or he just uses this technique to bring out the best (and worst) in people. A perfect games man.

Boss has a soft spot for the employer because the latter may reflect his own preferences or values (ergo, sees himself in the employer). The employer may also be connected with the boss on a personal level.

Boss is reciprocating personal favors – whatever it may be.

Boss simply finds the other person worthy, having tried and tested the employer in a professional setting.
